the alice package (alice-2.0.0-i486-1_SBo.tgz ) requires java-1.5. i have the lastest updates in the 1.5.0 branch here, but they do not mix with the jre/jdk 1.6 from slackware. you'll need to uninstall jre/jdk, then install the 1.5.0 package.
* in the gnucash folder there are the latest unstable builds of gnucash
